Green Deal To Drive Wider Economy
It may just be a UK thing, however the governments ‘Green Deal’ set to come into effect later this year has even begun to make itself known internationally, as last week UK policy and business leaders discussed the scheme at the Renewable Energy 2012 World Conference Panel.
One of the topics covered by the panel was how the Green Deal can provide benefits to both the environment and the economy, and the aim of the deal to assist households in cutting both energy bills and carbon emissions certainly impressed international members of the panel, including several from North America – the largest market in the world for green products.
Dan Monzani, deputy directory of the Green Deal had this to say at the conference “Policies like the Green Deal have transformed Great Britain into a global hub of clean technology. Policies like these are helping to drive growth of our own domestic low-carbon economy while also opening new business opportunities with overseas companies like the ones we are meeting at Renewable Energy World.”
The Green Deal is part of the governments commitment to be the ‘greenest eve’r along with the UK’s goal of reducing our carbon emissions by 80% of the year 2050 – the viability of which has often been questioned, however, one thing is for sure and that is that for this goal to be achieved, we need to become much more efficient as a nation.
