Fisher Gardens, a large estate of council housing, is situated in Knaresborough, an old historic market town, spa town and civil parish in the Borough of Harrogate, North Yorkshire.
The estate itself is located in a conservation area. This meant that strict planning and enforcement criteria had to be met, to keep the properties in keeping with the local area, and ensuring that no damage to the properties or surrounding areas occurred with the erection of scaffolding, construction work, or at any point during the work carried out.
Working as the main contractor with Harrogate Borough Council, Westville were appointed the Fisher Gardens renovation project, which was to be carried out over 6 months. During the project, numerous properties from bungalows, to blocks of flats, were to be insulated, rendered, cladded, glazed and roofed, utilising seamless guttering.
Cedral cladding was chosen to keep the look of the properties in keeping with the local area, while brightening and transforming the existing facade of the properties, along with the replacement of over 250 windows, and 1200m² of roofing replaced.
Over 600m² of render was applied onto 100mm mineral fibre insulation, helping the whole community to cut their energy bills and go green at the same time.
The external insulation fitted also helped to give the whole Fisher Gardens area a fantastic new appearance, with over 1300m² of bright, clean cedral cladding transforming the look of many properties.
Across the 6 months of work, the progress of the project was documented by drone video so that the true scale of the changes could be seen, giving this community a new lease of life.
We are incredibly proud of the work carried out and wish the residents of Fisher Gardens all the best in their energy efficient properties.
