Collaborations, Forums & Workshops

Following our collaboration work with Derby University on their De-Carbonisation project, Westville now actively engage in construction forums to share best carbon reduction practices.

The De-Carbonisation project was created to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) increase their sustainability and save money by reducing energy costs and carbon emissions. The project is a collaboration between the University of Derby, Derby City and Derbyshire County Councils.

Westville are keen to continue to work with Derby University and their contacts to create practical solutions to the challenges we all face and are committed to sharing this information within both local and construction communities.

We participated in the Midlands Sustainability Engine workshop and the East Midlands Energy summit. We are also in the mobilisation and delivery phase for promoting the Ten Point Plan for Green Growth, as a key partner for the Midlands Engine.

We are currently looking to share our experiences with as many businesses and communities as possible.

Spotlight on our people

Jorge Stevenson, an intern from the London School of Economics, carried out a project to analyse Westville’s sustainability in 2020. This report was far reaching in its recommendations are at the core of much of our work on Planet Protect. A key aspect of these recommendations was education of our community. As such we have set a goal to help all of our employees and customers understand their own carbon footprint and look for opportunities to make a difference. This has started with encouraging all of Westville’s team to complete a simple on line calculator. The next stage is to set up our own working group to share learning and ideas.

There are a few options, this carbon footprint calculator is easy and quick to use.
