Example process – Devon Drive – Nottingham
The video takes you through how these works can be completed. The example below is using Permarock’s Mineral Wool boards on a property in Nottingham.
After a meeting with the owners we agreed on a board thickness and finish, this was a K finish with some decorative brick slips used to finish it off. The walls are smoothed down and then tested for how many fixings are required. An antifungal pre-wash was placed on the existing surface and then we fixed the boards to the walls – these insulants are the main factor to your savings of up to £400 a year. There is then an application of render on top of a mesh to make the boards fix and apply the correct strength / resilience to the wall.
One of the impacts of external insulation is that window cells need to be extended as the boards make the current gap in-effective. These were all matched in with the current dark colour on Devon Drive and left a finish that is shown below.
This example shows how your property can be transformed in appearance and also in carbon emissions with U values improving to .32 on average. This can be varied using different board thicknesses.
