Dunholme at Rampton, near Retford is a bungalow full of character, built in 1919, straight after World War 1. It was owned by Mrs & Mrs Grey who lived there until 1987 when the property changed hands to the current owners Andrew and Gillian Dunn.
Soon after they moved in, Mr & Mrs Dunn were allocated grant funding which contributed towards the mammoth job of replacing the roof and ceilings. During the last 38 years, every room has been changed, however being a solid wall property and off the gas grid, heating costs have always been an issue. Previously coal fired heating with electric storage heaters their heating bills were in the region of £1000 year for coal and £1800 for electricity.
As part of the Bassetlaw District Council HUG scheme, Dunholme was chosen to receive a complete energy efficiency makeover, with 9 new electric storage heaters for the interior, and external wall insulation for the exterior of the property.
Westville designed and installed the exterior wall insulation to keep the original look of this charming bungalow, using cream render finish, complimented by brick effect render detail.

The work done by Westville on this project is estimated to save Mr & Mrs Dunn £250 per year on their energy bills, which also stops 650kg of CO2 from entering the atmosphere annually!*
In addition, the updated storage heaters will improve heating efficiency and further increase energy savings.

Andrew and Gillian Dunn are delighted with both the look and warmth of their new home, commenting that the heaters have been switched off since March, due to the heat retention, plus their electricity bills have halved!
“Westville has been fantastic. Scheme Manager Barry communicated well on the process and what we could expect from each team of tradespeople. Everybody was professional, knew what they were doing, polite and worked with a smile. It was a pleasure to have them work on our home - nothing was too much trouble! As an ex-Manager, I would employ them all.”
We’ve had the opportunity to work on some inspiring projects with some fantastic residential clients, businesses and local authorities.
