Nottingham City Council Win Award For Green Push

Dec 19, 2017 | General News

Nottingham City Council has been awarded at the Regen Green Energy Awards for their pioneering drive to transform Nottingham into the UK’s most energy self-sufficient city.

The prestigious honour awards organisations who have shown “innovation, dedication, and creative ingenuity enabling the transformation to clean, smart, flexible energy. The award given to Nottingham City Council was the “Most Proactive Public Sector Organisation” award.

The council has a long history of green energy innovations, stretching back to the 1970’s when they set up their own district heating network, right up to launching the more recent 2020 sustainable energy strategy for the city.

Overall, since 2005 the council has reduced CO2 emissions from its operations by 31%.

Here at Westville, we have been working in the City with the Nottingham Energy Partnership for the past 11 years, helping home-owners and businesses to cut their energy bills and reduce their energy usage through a range of insulation techniques.

This latest news makes us very pleased, as it shows that the work being done in the City and across the wider region is being recognised and having a good impact in helping us make the East Midlands and clean and sustainable place to live, work and play for both ourselves and future generations.

If you’re in Nottingham or the surrounding areas and would like more information on how you can benefit from the sustainable energy work going on across the area, then please don’t hesitate to get in touch with a member of our team today on 0800 1583605.
